An inclusive children’s book about friendship, hearing differences and belonging
Can You Find the SUPERPOWERS? is the first illustrated story in the Emily & Friends series. Freddie wants to make a friend. Emily wears hearing aids. As they get to know each other, they discover that listening, communicating and joining in can look different for different people—and that patience, kindness and curiosity can help friendship grow.
Written by R. M. Rayner, drawing on the author’s experience of growing up with hearing aids, this warm read-aloud invites children and adults to talk together about hearing aids, deaf awareness, inclusion and the strengths we each bring to a friendship. It is an inclusive children’s book for families, primary schools, libraries and groups looking for disability-positive stories that open gentle conversations without defining a child by a diagnosis.

“Received thank you! Had to sit down on the kitchen floor and start reading immediately When she got to the end she said “that was a good book!”. That’s the highest praise you will get from a 4 year old “-Sarah
